Pixel 9a Vs Pixel 10a: Design & Display

Last year’s Pixel 9a had a compact design and came with a 6.3-inch P-OLED display along with 2700 nits peak brightness. And in the hand, the phone felt solid, thanks to the aluminum frame. While Google did cut some slack with the back plastic design. Rear design had a tiny camera bump, although it wasn’t that noticeable. Anyway you still got an IP68 rating, which is a thumbs up.

On the other hand, the Pixel 10a this year will give you a millimeter thicker body, now with 9mm thickness instead of last year’s 8.9mm. And this change is for a reason, you don’t get that millimeter camera bump now. As a result, you get a completely flat rear design with zero wobbles. Good Job Google! 

As for display, the display size and technology remained the same. Although you do get a 3000 nits peak brightness now, which is like 300nits more than last year. And to protect that same old display, you get improved front glass, the popular Corning Gorilla Glass 7i. That’s it!

Pixel 9a Vs Pixel 10a: Camera 

This is the portion Google made zero changes in this year’s new Pixel 10a. As you get no changes from last year’s model. There’s the same old 48MP wide angle camera along with 13MP ultrawide lens. Selfie camera on the Pixel brothers is similar too, you get a 13MP ultrawide lens with 4K recording. Photos and videos look just as last year in plain eyes. That’s pretty much it.

Pixel 9a Vs Pixel 10a: Performance

There’s nothing to talk about here, really! Although if you are still reading, then here you go. You get the same old Tensor G4 octa-core chipset along with Mali-G715 MP7 GPU. It’s like Google wanted to give Tensor G5 SoC inside, but they said to themselves maybe next year.

Pixel 10a Vs Pixel 9a: Software

Oh my god! This is the portion Google made significant changes. There’s the all new Android 16 with the newly released Pixel 10a. This is a massive upgrade from last year’s Android 15. To be slightly specific, a software update which you can get even if you own the old Pixel 9a. 

Pixel 10a Vs Pixel 9a: Battery Life

Regret to inform you, no battery upgrade this year, as you have to stick with last year’s 5100mAh capacity. Which isn’t bad, right? Because it’s Google OS we are speaking of, you will get a day’s power without any major trouble. And even if you do have trouble there’s fast charging. And speaking of fast charging there is good news. You do get faster 30W charging this year, compared to last year’s 23W charging. A huge comeback Google, bold decision. 

Verdict

So that’s about all about the Pixel 9a Vs Pixel 10a comparison good people. As Maximus says in the movie Gladiator, quote “Are you not entertained”. Well, if you think Google has impressed you with such improvement, then you have my utmost welcome to purchase the new Pixel 10a for $499. Although if you check closely, last year’s Pixel 9a is still standing tall with almost the same specs.
